Chicago saw us taking the Hop on Hop off bus tour of the city this morning. This tour took us over a wide area of the city covering Millennium Park (our hotel is not far from here), the city centre, out to the Navy Pier, the shores of Lake Michigan and other highlights including Chicago Theatre and the John Hancock Observatory which provided great views of the city.
Did I say that it was a windy day? Well it certainly was and not because of all of the political waffle either (which is the reason for the City to have the tag the windy city – or so they say). The last 2 days have been very windy and the locals say it is abnormal. Let me tell you the winds are VERY strong and the weather extremely changeable – one minute warm next it is quite cool (makes Melbourne look very normal).
Later in the afternoon we took an architectural river cruise on the Chicago River to look at the buildings in the city and hear about their architectural background. Some of the buildings were amazing and their history is fascinating.
We completed the day with a lovely dinner at a lovely restaurant in the city. We have another half day tomorrow before we move on to Niagara Falls tomorrow.
So here are some photos from today. Cheers. W
