Well today was a WOW day! We were up at 6:15am ready for a 7:30am start. We boarded the train around 8:00am and then we were off. The day was beautiful clear skies and warm and the scenery – spectacular!
In addition to the scenery we met a number of people – Lex and Tamara – Aussies from Newcastle (we shared some interesting stories); Ed and Mary from Louisiana and had some interesting chats with some of our hosts.
Again I took heaps of photos – you can’t help taking them – not that I am much of a photographer but the scenery is amazing.
We lost an hour moving into the Province of Alberta and so we arrived in Jasper at 6:00pm. From there we were bused to our accommodation the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Well what can I say – what a magnificent spot. It is a resort complex with lakes, golf course, horse-riding, and a very large amount of park land. We walked around the lake (it took about 1.5 hours – and we were not slow).
But the setting of this place is simply breath-taking. The photos do not do it justice but I have included some anyway.
It doesn’t get dark until about 10:15pm and at 11:00pm the temperature is still in the mid 20’s. We are spending another day here so I can’t wait to have a look around Jasper itself and then to further explore the resort. More updates tomorrow. W
